Carolina Ballet

On 1/2/08, Carolina Ballet's Communications Manager informed CVNC that the company has "instigated [sic] a new policy, asking critics to purchase tickets to the shows they review. The N&O has set the standard," she explained, "and we have chosen to follow."

Since purchasing tickets to the hundreds of events CVNC reviews each year would in effect double our budget, we are obliged to rely on the cooperative good faith of our artistic partners in the non-profit and commercial communities we serve with our extensive marketing and promotional services, statewide. We regret this company's departure from the fold, but readers seeking information concerning Carolina Ballet's season and reviews of its performances may find them, from time to time, in Raleigh's daily paper.
