Program

The DMO has commissioned NY-based composer Michael Markowski to transcribe his work City Trees for orchestra. The composer will be present for the premiere in Durham to share his inspiration for the work, which involves overcoming adversity and thriving under difficult conditions. Local artist Clara K. Johnson is designing art works around this theme and will display her work in the lobby of Baldwin Auditorium at the concert. The concert program also includes "España" by Chabrier, the overture from Hänsel and Gretel by Humperdinck, and the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofé.
