Program

Pastyme, Asheville’s premiere a cappella group, will present a concert of Christmas and Winter music. The music for this concert comes from a wide range of traditions and styles, all celebrating the winter season. Selections will include Renaissance polyphony, jazz arrangements, contemporary compositions based on ancient chant and modern carols. Most celebrate the Christmas season, but others reflect on the simpler joys and traditions of the season.

Notes

New CD: "'Descends the Snow' - The music on our new recording comes from a wide range of traditions and styles, all celebrating the winter season. The selections include Renaissance polyphony, jazz arrangements of old favorites, contemporary compositions based on ancient chant, and modern carols, including several that have never been recorded for release before. Most of these pieces celebrate the Christmas season, but many others reflect on the simpler joys and traditions of the season - the warmth of the fire, the silence of the falling snow, and the sharing of the spirit of the season with friends and family. We hope that this music becomes a part of your own holiday tradition. Currently, 'Descends the Snow' is available only through a member of Pastyme, at our concerts, by mail order or at Accent on Books in Asheville.  We will be adding the option of ordering online in the next week or so.  You will be able to purchase the physical CD, or download through i-tunes and other music download sites.  We'll let you know when its available. For more information, visit the "Descends the Snow" web page."
