On Our Review of Nutcracker, Presented by Carolina Ballet

CVNC:

In reading your review of the Carolina Ballet’s Nutcracker, I have to admit I was rather disappointed that Kate Dobbs Ariail did not find it necessary to mention the wonderful contribution made on the part of the children in the cast. I also noted that this was the case in her 2004 review as well (with the exception of Clara).

It is a major undertaking to incorporate over 100 children into the production. The party children, the bunnies, the soldiers, the mice, the truffles, and the gingerbread are a major part of Weiss’ Nutcracker vision. These young performers work very hard and deserve to be recognized. In addition, the Carolina Ballet deserves to be recognition for their commitment to the young dancers of our community.
