Fiddler on the Roof:  Music by Jerry Bock. Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Book by Joseph Stein. A story that has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth, and honesty for 50 years. The story by Sholem Aleichem is the tale of Tevye the dairyman, the father of five daughters. It is set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, where the Jews of the village struggle to maintain their traditions while the world around them changes.
