Performed by The Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists; Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Conductor
Memorial Hall, 208 East Cameron Avenue, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
The English Baroque Soloists – a section of the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique – have long been established as one of the world’s most beloved period instrument orchestras. Throughout their repertoire, ranging from Monteverdi to Mozart and Haydn, they are equally at home in chamber, symphonic and operatic repertoire and the distinctive sound of their warm and incisive playing is instantly recognizable. Here, they perform Vespro della Beata Vergine by the late Renaissance composer Claudio Monteverdi.
