Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, by Moisés Kaufman: Wilde sued the Marquess of Queensberry—father of his young lover—for criminal libel when he left a card bearing “posing sodomite” at his club. Evidence gathered compelled the Crown to prosecute Wilde for “gross indecency with male persons.” From Queen Victoria to London’s rent boys, to a present-day academic are assembled to explore how history is made and how it can be so timely revisited in the theatre.
