Modern Visions, Modern Art: The Cone Sisters in North Carolina brings together works by artists who drew the admiration and attention of Claribel and Etta Cone, including paintings, sculpture, and prints by Henri Matisse, and works on paper by Rembrandt van Rijn, Sarah Stein, Jacques Villon, Marie Laurencin, Ben Silbert, John Graham, and Everett Bryant. These works are presented alongside art and objects that Claribel and Etta gifted to members of their family.
Modern Visions, Modern Art: The Cone Sisters in North Carolina and Modern Visions, Mountain Views: The Cones of Flat Top Manor will open to the public in early August 2019. These exhibitions are presented to the community by Wells Fargo. BRAHM offers additional thanks to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, National Park Service, Baltimore Museum of Art, Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro History Museum, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock Tourism Development Authority, and the many extended members of the Cone and Lindau families for their enthusiastic support and collaborative efforts.
Coffee with the Curator: Modern Visions, Modern Art: Thursday, October 15th from 11:00 am. Take a walk through the galleries with the Curators Dianna Cameron and Jordan Calaway and get a behind-the-scenes look into the Modern Visions, Modern Art: The Cone Sisters in North Carolina. Afterward, guests are invited to converse and pose questions while enjoying complimentary coffee and cookies (courtesy of Appalachia Cookie Company) with the Curator at the Museum. Coffee with the Curator is free for museum members and $5 for non-members.
